What are the components of Android Applications?

Activities: It is an entry point for interacting with the user. It represents one screen with an interface. It facilitates the following key interactions between system and the app. Keep tracking to ensure that system is running the process i.e.; hosting the activity.

Services: A service may be a general-purpose for keeping an app running within the background for all types of reasons. It is a component that runs in the background to perform long-running operations to perform work for remote processes. A service doesn’t provide an interface. The features are built as services that applications implement and the system binds to when they should be running.

Broadcast receivers: it’s a component that permits the system to deliver events to the app outside of a daily user flow, allowing the app to reply to system-wide broadcast announcements. Because broadcast receivers are another well-defined entry into the app, the system can deliver to apps that aren’t currently running. Although broadcast receivers don’t display an interface, they’ll create a standing bar notification to alert the user when a broadcast event occurs. Though, it is simply a gateway to other components and is meant to try to a really minimal amount of work.

Content providers: A content provider manages a shared set of app data that can store in the file system, in an SQLite database, on the web, or on any other persistent storage location that app can access. Thus, an app can decide how it wants to map the info it contains to a URI namespace, handing out those URIs to other entities which may successively use them to access the data.
